The Democratic National Convention kicked off Monday in Philadelphia with temperatures in the mid-90s (approximately 20 degrees higher than the point Seattleites start complaining about the heat).

Also feeling the heat was Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the chair of the Democratic National Committee, who announced she would resign following the convention. Last week, emails were released that showed a bias within the committee against Bernie Sanders during the primaries.

Sanders' supporters were out in force protesting around the city. A group lining the delegate entrance to the convention chanted, "Hell no, DNC — we won't vote for Hillary!"

Inside, delegates booed their national convention to order when convention chair Marcia Fudge tried to speak about Hillary Clinton and her vice presidential pick, Tim Kaine. Chants of "Bernie" punctuated several moments of the proceedings.

Washington’s delegation was split about evenly between the boos and cheers that drowned out Fudge’s speech. You can see video, photos and Tweets from the day below.
