Why is Evergreen Membership so important? Ongoing monthly donations sustain everything we do at KUOW to deliver news, information, and storytelling rooted in connecting our community. Your monthly support is a valued, reliable investment that allows us to better plan our budget, maintain and develop the best programming possible, reach new and under-represented audiences, and stay on top of the constant news cycle, all to deliver the facts and stories our community deserves and depends on. As traditional fundraising methods for public media diminish over time, your support as an Evergreen Member remains strong, sustaining the important work of KUOW and NPR for the good of our community.
How can I become an Evergreen Member?
It's easy! Just select “Monthly” at the bottom of the KUOW donation form. You can choose from our suggested monthly donation options or enter an amount that works for you. Want even more of your donation to go to the programming you love? Be sure to select "checking account" as your payment option — it reduces processing fees, and there's no expiration date associated with outdated credit cards!

- Is my gift tax deductible? As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, donations made to KUOW are tax deductible. Calendar-year tax statements are sent out to all donors in mid-January and list all donations made in the preceding year. Check with your tax expert to be sure your contributions qualify. KUOW’s tax ID is 91–2079402 .
- What is the best way to support KUOW and public radio? Joining KUOW as a sustaining, monthly Evergreen Member is the most impactful way to support KUOW and NPR programming long-term. However, there are many other ways to support us. From car donations to stock or legacy gifts, all contributions help the mission of public radio!
- Does KUOW get government funding? KUOW receives 4% of its annual funding from the government in the form of federal grants bestowed by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The majority of our funding comes from individual donations and community business support.
