KUOW Recognized for Accountability and Transparency
September 10, 2018
KUOW Puget Sound Public Radio has been named one of the top 10 public radio stations in the nation by Charity Navigator. The recognition is for KUOW’s exceptional programming and commitment to upholding the highest standards for financial health, accountability and transparency.
During the past seven years, KUOW has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, the nation's largest independent charity evaluator and leading donor advocate. The 4-star rating is a demonstration of KUOW exceeding the industry standards and outperforming most charities in the public radio category.
“It is important that our members know that we value their generosity and will be faithful stewards of their contributions,” said Karyn Andriesen, KUOW’s director of development. “This 4-star rating is a reflection of KUOW’s commitment to wisely investing the resources that have been entrusted to us so we can serve our community.”
Currently, KUOW has more nearly 50,000 contributing members including more than 10,000 new members who joined in 2017. The support of individual members and business supporters fund KUOW’s daily operations and long-range business initiatives of investing in local content, digital media, marketing, community engagement and organizational excellence.
“I can’t imagine a better way to invest in our community than by being a monthly supporting member of KUOW. Every dollar goes to the smart, relevant, independent voices and programming that keeps me and my family informed and entertained daily,” said KUOW member and listener, Paige Gilbert.
