Adam Savage made a toolbox for creativity — with his brain

If you’ve watched the Discovery Channel series Mythbusters, you know who Adam Savage is. For the uninitiated, he’s a special effects designer and fabricator with a charming bench-side manner.

From 2003-2016, Savage and his co-star Jamie Hyneman barreled through nearly 300 episodes of a show that aimed “to uncover the truth behind popular myths and legends by mixing scientific method with gleeful curiosity and plain old-fashioned ingenuity.” It took dedication, sweat, creativity and so, so much duct tape.

Savage has a new Discovery Channel show starting soon called Savage Builds. He says they made a suit of Iron Man armor out of titanium and shot guns at it.

He also has a book out, his first, titled “Every Tool’s a Hammer: Life Is What You Make It.” About it, Savage writes:

“I hope this book inspires you to build, make, invent, explore, and—most of all—enjoy the thrills of being a creator.”

Fellow creator (carpenter and actor) Nick Offerman calls Savage’s book “An imperative how-to for creativity.”
