On the conservation roller coaster, July brings good and bad news for grizzly bears.

U.S. Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt announced on July 7 that his agency would not move forward with a plan to re-introduce grizzly bears to North Central Washington, citing overwhelming public opposition to the plan.

If you’re a regular listener to THE WILD, you’ll know I’ve spent a lot of years working for these bears. It’s an issue near and dear to my heart. So I wanted to share a short interview I did on this subject with Kim Malcolm, host of All Things Considered on KUOW in Seattle. I hope you enjoy it.
