KUOW and The Seattle Times' collaborative podcast 'Lost Patients' wins Scripps Howard Award

KUOW is excited to announce that Lost Patients has won the Scripps Howard Journalism Award for Excellence in Audio Storytelling. The Scripps Howard Journalism Awards celebrate high-impact reporting across the mediums of radio, podcasts, visual media, online media, newspapers, and other print publications.
Lost Patients, a collaborative effort of KUOW and The Seattle Times, is a deeply-reported, six-part docuseries examining Washington state’s maze-like system for treating serious mental illness. The podcast premiered in March 2024 and quickly resonated with audiences through its timely and empathetic approach to a critical issue affecting communities across America.
A panel of veteran journalists and media leaders selected the winners from nearly 600 entries across 12 categories, honoring submissions that "exemplify the power of journalism in bringing to light critical societal issues." Explore the full list of nominees and winners here.
