Do legal challenges to replacing Biden on the ballot stand a chance?

Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and the conservative Heritage Foundation have said Democrats could face legal challenges in some states if they change candidates.

Ciara Torres-Spelliscy,  Brennan Center fellow and professor at Stetson University College of Law, points out that such legal challenges don’t have merit because the Democratic nominee isn’t officially chosen until the convention in August. And since President Biden decided not to seek the nomination and Vice President Harris is now securing the support of delegates, she has legal standing to be the nominee.
