Like other cities around the country and the world, Seattle has been through a ringer during the Covid pandemic. Issues already troubling the city— economic growth, public safety, affordable housing and others—were exacerbated.

In this extra episode of Speakers Forum, on his 100th day in office Mayor Bruce Harrell explains at length the who, what, why, when, and how of his plans for leading Seattle. Harrell speaks to the “mess” he inherited. He then shares his vision for “One Seattle,” police reform, improved city council relations, downtown revitalization, and crime and homelessness reduction, among other subjects.

If you haven’t had a chance to get to know Mayor Harrell yet, this conversation covers many of the issues he’s concerned about and his very personal take on the art and science of government.

Seattle University's Institute of Public Service presented this event from Pigott Auditorium on April 11, 2022, as part of their “Conversations” series. Mayor Harrell was interviewed by multimedia journalist Joni Balter, Seattle University Professor Larry Hubbell, and students Mandela Gardner and Camille Rochester. The theme of the event was, "Where do we go from here?"
