‘Tis the season for Rogue storytelling
One of the great things about most places is when you find some quirky, seasonal thing that makes that place great. A Rogue’s Christmas is that for Seattle.
The annual event is hosted by Jean Sherrard, a man who lists actor, writer, director and private detective on his resume. He and his roguish friend Paul Dorpat always kick it off.
This year’s other readers were Julie Briskman, Kurt Beattie and KUOW’s own Bill Radke. Here are the stories you can look forward to:
- “Christmas Greeting” by E.B. White; read by Sherrard and Dorpat
- “Left Behind” by Katherine Freeman Poole; read by Briskman
- “Christmas in Vietnam” by Karen Kent; read by Briskman
- “And Two Eyes Made Out of Coal” by Augusten Burroughs; read by Radke
- “The Carol Sing” by John Updike, read by Beattie
- “Winning on Jeopardy” by Jonathan Shipley, Radke
- “An Xmas Story” by Jeanette Winterson, read by Briskman
A Rogue’s Christmas is part of Town Hall Seattle’s Short Stories Live series. This 12th annual event took place at Taproot Theatre in Greenwood on December 9.
KUOW’s Sonya Harris recorded the stories. Happy Holidays from all of us at Speakers Forum!
Please note: This recording contains themes of an adult nature.
