Seattle Archdiocese settles sexual abuse case from 1960s

The Seattle Archdiocese says it will pay $250,000 to settle a sexual abuse case from the 1960s.

A spokesperson for the Archdiocese says the victim wishes to remain anonymous.

The Archdiocese did not answer questions about what Terry McGrath allegedly did, when the Archdiocese first learned about the allegations, or whether the case was ever referred to law enforcement.

The Archdiocese did say that McGrath was a basketball coach at Bellevue's St. Louise Catholic Church in the late '60s and early '70s. He went on to be the youth athletic director for the Seattle Archdiocese for more than a decade.

Over the past few decades, the Seattle Archdiocese has paid out nearly $100 million in settlements for sexual abuse claims. The Archdiocese says that money comes from insurance and property sales.
