Get an extra! Seattleites beeline to newsstands for impeachment history
It’s been a historic week with the impeachment of President Donald Trump, the third U.S. president now facing trial in the Senate.
The day after the House of Representatives approved two articles of impeachment, people in Seattle went to the newsstands to buy their piece of history.
At Bulldog News in the University District, Deilyn Osby Sande beelined it to the newspaper stand.
She was worried they had all been bought up, but got her hands on three copies of The New York Times with the blaring headline: "TRUMP IMPEACHED."
"I have twin daughters and I wanted them each to have a copy and I wanted my husband and me to have a copy for posterity," Osby Sande said. "It's a big day."
Osby Sande said she doesn't expect the president will be removed by the Senate, but believes the House's impeachment vote was significant.
After Osby Sande's purchase, one copy of each of USA Today, the Wall Street Journal and The Times remained.
An employee at Bulldog News said the last time they remembered people hurrying in to get an historic front page was when the Seahawks won the Super Bowl in 2014.
