Each day on The Record we play the sound of your day. Listeners record 30 seconds of a sound they find interesting, write a short story and send it to The Record.
Monday, October 14
That is the sound of Cathedral bells ringing through the city of Zagreb, Croatia. KUOW reporter Ann Dornfeld was in Croatia recently and recorded that sound.
Tuesday, October 15
You might have heard that Century Link Field is one of the loudest stadiums in the world. Seahawks fans recently lost the world record for loudest stadium to the fans of the Kansas City Chiefs, but that doesn't make the atmosphere any less tame.
If you ever wondered what it was like to sit in the midst of thousands of screaming fans, this sound provides some perspective. Listener Andrea was at the Seahawks game against the Tennessee Titans; she recorded a time when the Titans were on offense and every single person in the stadium yelled in unison trying to cause a false start.
Wednesday, October 16
Amy Roszack sent us the sound of her family sliding tubes into the sand to dig for razor clams. Amy, her husband Joe and her kids Maddie and Corban live in Poulsbo, Wash..
Thursday, October 17
Along with razor clam digging, Amy also sent along the sound of cranberries being harvested and washed at a farm in Long Beach, Wash. She and her family visited the farm on a beautiful sunny Saturday.
They had been visiting the Cranberry Museum, learning about the history and harvesting of cranberries, when they decided to go on a hike. As they drove along a back road looking for a trail they came across a man in a very noisy boat of-sorts, floating around a flooded pasture. The sound you hear is of the boat harvesting cranberries.
