Love it, hate it, or just don’t know enough about it, sentiments about cannabis are as diverse as the plant itself.

From treating epilepsy in children to helping you wind down after a hard day’s work, the use of the cannabis plant is a subject of contention and misunderstanding.

Analytical chemists Nick Mosely and Dr. Tania Sasaki hope to clear the air about some cannabis-related misconceptions. They look at the diversity of the plant itself and its products and they examine cannabis testing: how it’s done and how it affects consumers.

They also share insights into how cannabis use became a crime, and how legalization and regulation is playing out.

Nick Mosely is chief executive officer and Dr. Tania Sasaki is chief science officer at Confidence Analytics, a cannabis testing laboratory based in Redmond, Washington.
