Fall art season is in full swing: Marcie Sillman's weekend culture picks September 27-29
The last weekend of September is actually the first weekend of the 2019-2020 arts season for many of the region’s cultural organizations.
KUOW’s Arts and Culture reporter Marcie Sillman has these picks for your weekend entertainment.
Friday, September 27
Opening weekend for Seattle Repertory Theatre’s production of Paula Vogel’s award-winning play “Indecent,” a modern take on a controversial early 20th century Yiddish play called “God of Vengeance.”
Also opening night for Seattle Children’s Theatre’s new stage adaptation of the classic book “Black Beauty,” the story of a horse’s life told with human actors and large-scale puppets.
Pacific Northwest Ballet opens its 2019-2020 season with Kent Stowell’s sweeping “Carmina Burana,” and legendary choreographer George Balanchine’s 1957 black and white classic “Agon.”
ArtsWest Playhouse opens Macarthur genius playwright Dominique Morriseau’s “Skeleton Crew,” directed by Valerie Curtis Newton.
