On Labor Day 2020, the town of Malden, Wash. was devastated by wildfire. Homes, churches, businesses, and cars were turned into ash and rubble. It took months to see any significant federal relief and a year later the town as well as the neighboring cities affected are still rebuilding.

KUOW producer Alec Cowan, went to Malden to hear from the people in the town today. You can hear this story on Monday, September 6, 2021.
