How were pager attacks carried out in Lebanon?

What was the elaborate spycraft behind the massive attack of exploding pagers and walkie talkies in Lebanon? At least 32 people were reported killed and more than 3,000 people injured when devices blew up simultaneously on Tuesday and Wednesday.
