Meet Washington state's 2019 teacher of the year

Robert Hand teaches Family and Consumer Sciences at Mount Vernon High School.

Robert Hand was one of 9 finalists for the award in Washington state. He spoke to Marcie Sillman about the teachers who inspired him, why it's important to teach kids life skills in high school, and what he hopes to leave his students with by the end of the year.

Hand is now in the running for the National Teacher of the Year. Last year's Washington state Teacher of the Year, Mandy Manning, also won the national title.
