If you're looking for tips on how to experience art in the Seattle area, you're in the right place. In this weekly post, KUOW reporter Mike Davis has suggestions for what to do around Seattle over the weekend so you can have your own adventures in arts and culture.

Theater

Peter and the Starcatcher, is playing at Theater off Jackson. Produced in partnership with Reboot Theater Company, this play will tell the origin story of the beloved fairytale character Peter Pan. Reboot is known for reimagining theatrical stories through the lens of gender expression. This production will present the well-known coming-of-age journey, but will incorporate the experiences of queer youth in this magical tale.

I will see the production this weekend, and update this post, but after seeing Reboot’s production of "110 In The Shade," which I enjoyed, I’m eager to see what they do with this former Broadway production that features well-known characters, but a story that many in the audience may not be familiar with. More soon!

Music

The 10th Annual Jackson Street Jazz Walk is this weekend at multiple venues and outdoor locations in the Central District. This celebration of music and community will have live music and lots of fun all weekend long. There will be indoor ticketed events, like the red dress gala at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute (LHPAI) on Sept. 8, and outdoor events like live jazz from 22 bands on 10 different stages on Jackson Street Sept. 9.
