Elizabeth Austen talks to Seattle poet Faiza Sultan and poet and translator Lena Khalaf Tuffaha about how Sultan uses her poetry to bridge cultures.

Sultan is the founder of Darsafi, a local publishing house dedicated to translating literature and academic texts from Arabic into English. Her work to help U.S. troops understand Iraqi culture is featured in the documentary film, "The Language of War."

Lena Khalaf Tuffaha is a Seattle native of Palestinian, Jordanian and Syrian heritage. Her first book of poems, "Water & Salt," will be published in 2017.
