Free college is coming for more low income students in Washington
Kim Malcolm talks with Michael Meotti about the Workforce Education Investment Act.
On Tuesday, Washington Governor Jay Inslee signed a sweeping education bill that will provide more than 110,00 students with financial aid and grants. Tuition and fees will be fully paid for students from families that earn less than $50,000.
The new law kicks in beginning with the 2020-21 academic year.
Meotti is executive director of the Washington Student Achievement Council, a state agency that oversees financial aid.
