Which side are you on? Politics vs. pop culture
The second installment of the KUOW live series, That’s Debatable, dives deep, Oxford-style, into the question of how popular culture and politics affect each other today. The proposition up for debate: “Politics is ruining pop culture.”
Arguing for the proposition: Melanie McFarland, TV critic for Salon.com, and Mellina White Cusack, digital marketing professional and author of The Seattle Conservative blog.
Arguing against the proposition: Daudi Abe, Professor, writer and hip hop historian, and Jennifer K. Stuller, pop culture historian and co-founder of GeekGirlCon
This event took place at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (MoPop) on September 19.
KUOW’s Zaki Hamid and Kristin Leong served as hosts. Robert Jacobs-Springer recorded the debate.
